Using Emergency Disk or Command line scanner

Quick Heal Emergency Disk is used to remove viruses in case your system is infected before installation. You are recommended to shutdown your system; reboot it using Windows 95/98 Startup Disk (created during installation of Windows 95/98). If you don’t have a Startup Disk or Emergency Repair Disk, you can also use an uninfected, write protected, bootable floppy disk of DOS version 3.3 or later (Non-DOS partitions will not be accessible in this case). Emergency disk and Command line scanner have the same executable and options for scanning. Usage referred for Emergency disk is similar to Command line scanner as well. Emergency disk is executed using EMGSCAN.EXE command at the DOS command prompt.

Emgscan Usage

Emgscan.exe [drive/path] [options]

Emgscan Options

For specified options '-' inverts the default meaning.

To remove viruses using Emergency Disk:

Shutdown your computer.
Switch on the computer.
Insert Windows 95/98 Startup Disk or a clean DOS bootable disk. This will boot your system in A:\ Dos Shell.
Insert the Quick Heal Emergency disk.
Type “EMGSCAN C: /REPAIR” at the DOS command prompt and press Enter.
Quick Heal will scan entire C drive of your system and will try to disinfect the boot sectors or files if found infected during the scan.
When Quick Heal removes all the viruses and completes the scan, it will provide you with the respective scan summary.
