“The world of gadgets and technology is ever expanding, too many
choices, bewildering array of products, too much hype, too many jargons,
its becoming more complex and confusing every day.
Each company releases an incredible number of products every few months.
While earlier a yearly cycle of new products was fine, competition and
pace to market has forced them all to bring in new products extremely
quickly. This makes the tech market a very difficult one for the
layperson or the consumer.
Companies today bring in a lot of jargon and hype and a tantalizing
amount of new technology and features. They announce products months in
advance, they talk about new things way ahead of release and basically
whet the appetite! The problem is that the consumer gets very
intimidated with so many new features and upcoming technology.
From within all this, its very important to separate the wheat from the
chaff, to be able to present the really good from the mostly mediocre,
to be able to judge between pure marketing and a really superior
product, to be able to take all of it and choose the absolute best!
That's what our quest on the NDTV techlife awards is. Its the search and
hunt for the best gadgets in the country!”
- RAJIV MAKHNI
RAJIV
MAKHNI
India's Tech Guru Rajiv Makhni is as strange as they come. He anchors
multiple TV shows on technology (one in chaste Hindi), owns a large
clothing company (but makes clothes only for women), loves food so much
that he ran a chain of restaurants (and samples everything, everyday),
was a successful model (and manages to look sufficiently embarrassed
about it when asked) and is currently writing a book (not on
technology).
He is a multiple award-winning
columnist and writes for major publications in India and Abroad
including the Outlook group, Hindustan Times, Mansworld, T3, Travel and
Leisure International, The Man, M Magazines etc.
He is an Engineer and an MBA
and has just discovered that Fatherhood may well be the best education
in life. What makes him India's Tech Guru? "Technology should be
understood at the most complex levels but presented at its simplest and
I think I do that best" he says. Is he a Good at what he does? Yes! Is
he modest about it? No!
